Where Is the Best Place to Buy Diamond Powder?

Different applications place very different demands on diamond powder. A powder selected for aggressive lapping may not be suitable for precision optical finishing. A high-purity powder needed for an electronics application may be unnecessary for general industrial use. While composites and thermal management materials may depend heavily on dispersion and compatibility with the surrounding matrix.

That is why selecting a diamond powder supplier involves more than specifying a particle size. A capable supplier should offer meaningful options in particle size, crystal morphology, strength, purity, and surface modification.

AdValue Technology supplies micron and nano diamond powders with a broad range of technical options. Our products are widely used in abrasive processing, advanced composites, thermal management, electronics, and specialized research and production applications.

Start With the Application

Before selecting a product series, consider four basic questions:

  • What is the powder expected to do?
  • What particle size and distribution does the process require?
  • Does crystal morphology or strength affect performance?
  • How important is purity?

The answers help determine the right powder much more effectively than particle size alone.

For grinding, lapping, and polishing, particle characteristics can influence material removal rate, surface finish, and process consistency. In composites and coatings, dispersion, particle loading, and interfacial behavior may become more important. For electronics and other sensitive applications, trace contamination can be a primary concern.

A Broad Range of Sizes and Powder Characteristics

AdValue Technology offers diamond powders in a wide range of particle sizes, ranging from nano, submicron, micron to mesh sizes.

Five commonly used micron powders are maintained in stock with D50 values of 1, 9, 15, 30, and 45 µm. Nano diamond powders are available in 20, 30, 50, 80, and 100 nm sizes.

Powder Type Available Sizes
Stock Micron Diamond (D50) 1 µm, 9 µm, 15 µm, 30 µm, 45 µm
Nano Diamond 20 nm, 30 nm, 50 nm, 80 nm, 100 nm

Micron and mesh powders are also available in three principal morphologies:

Type Shape Description Particle Size Distribution
Type A Regular, blocky, near-spherical shape Very narrow particle size distribution
Type B Semi-regular blocky shape, rougher surface Narrow particle size distribution
Type C Irregular shape, sharper surfaces Standard particle size distribution

These differences can influence cutting behavior, surface interaction, dispersion, and process consistency.

Choose the Right Performance Level

AdValue Technology organizes its diamond powders into four main product families:

Product Series Description Best For
DP-M Standard micron series General and advanced applications
DP-P High-purity micron series; impurity levels below 20 ppm Applications where trace contamination must be carefully controlled
DP-T High-strength micron series Applications requiring increased crystal strength and wear resistance
DP-N Nano diamond series; 20–100 nm; impurity levels below 10 ppm Nano-scale applications requiring high purity

Industrial, electronic, and bio-grade options are also available, allowing customers to select a specification based on the actual sensitivity and performance requirements of the application.

Specialty Diamond Powder Options

Some applications require specialized particle surfaces or structures.

AdValue Technology offers nickel-, titanium-, and copper-coated diamond powders for composite, bonded-tool, and other applications where the diamond–matrix interface is important. Depending on the material system and manufacturing process, a coating may improve compatibility, interfacial bonding, or processing behavior.

Additional specialty products include:

  • Polycrystalline diamond powders
  • Surface-modified powders
  • Agglomerated spherical powders
  • PCD powders
  • Diamond wire powders
  • Crushed or reshaped mesh-size products

Custom requirements can also be discussed when a standard size, morphology, strength, or purity does not fit the application.

What Makes a Good Diamond Powder Supplier?

A good supplier should do more than provide a long list of particle sizes. Buyers should consider whether the supplier can:

  • Define important characteristics beyond nominal particle size
  • Offer choices in morphology, strength, purity, and surface treatment
  • Maintain consistent quality from batch to batch
  • Support both initial testing and production needs
  • Provide specialty or custom options when required
  • Apply the technical know-how needed to help narrow the selection based on the application

AdValue Technology combines a broad diamond powder portfolio with consistent product quality, technical knowledge, and the flexibility to support customers from early-stage evaluation through ongoing production.
